Why can’t I read at home?

Whenever I start reading at home I get distracted and restless. But when I’m somewhere else - at the cafe, shopping centre, on the train etc. I can read for HOURS, to the point I travel not to *get* somewhere but to be able to read in peace.

I'm the same way with writing! I get more done at a cafe than I do at home. As others have said, there's always something prickling at the back of your mind: get the laundry out of the dryer, do the dishes, etc. Despite all the background noise, a cafe is more peaceful because that noise isn't poking at you.
