Why can’t I read at home?

Whenever I start reading at home I get distracted and restless. But when I’m somewhere else - at the cafe, shopping centre, on the train etc. I can read for HOURS, to the point I travel not to *get* somewhere but to be able to read in peace.

At the weekend, I was sitting in a KFC restaurant among lots of other people and I didn't hear any of them - they were just background noise 'cause subconsciously I "knew" I didn't have to pay attention to them.
